Something to crow about at the Landscape Centre

Stone the crows! The Landscape Centre at Donegore is offering fun for all the family this Friday when it opens its great Scarecrow Trail.

From August 13-23 there will be 20 colourful scarecrows dotted around the centre including such luminaries as Elvis Presley, Queen Victoria, Bob the Builder and Harry Potter.

For an extra bit of fun, some of the stuffed shirts will have quiz questions attached for the little ones to win prizes.

Owner Kaye Campbell explained that staff have joined in, making their own scarecrows:

“They have really got into the spirit of it and have come up with some great creations. There has been a lot of competition to come up with the best one.

“We hope that the children will enjoy looking at the scarecrows while mum and dad look at the range of plants and bulbs we have on offer,” added Kaye.

The Landscape Centre is renowned for its famous, groundbreaking  Santa Trail and it is hoped that Northern Ireland’s first  ever Scarecrow Trail will prove to be popular with young and old alike.

One of Northern Ireland’s most atmospheric garden centres, the Landscape Centre is located on historic Donegore Hill near Antrim and provides a panoramic view from the top of its ancient moat.

No doubt a scarecrow or two might have made it to the top!

At the end of the trail, while the kids are enjoying a well deserved ice cream, adults can order a Worzel Gummidge Special – a cup of tea and a slice of cake in the centre’s popular coffee shop.

They can’t guarantee that Aunt Sally will be present but there will be plenty of helpful staff to make the visit worthwhile.
