Total Perfection ‘cleans up’ at Clarkson’s Live Belfast Show

A Northern Ireland company will provide extra polish to this week’s eagerly awaited, action-packed Clarkson, Hammond & May Live shows at the Odyssey Arena.

Total Perfection, the Co Antrim-based car valeting and auto detailing company, has taken a shine to hundreds of luxury super cars and stunt cars at previous Top Gear Live Shows.

Now Total Perfection owner, Mark Smiley is looking forward to the challenge as the famous trio of petrol-heads bring their unique brand of revved-up anarchy to Belfast this weekend (Fri to Sunday, May 22-24).

The Total Perfection crew have been in the Odyssey Arena since Wednesday  cleaning more than 40 high performance vehicles in preparation for a three day motoring extravaganza of high speed thrills and exciting stunts.

This will be the first live show since the high profile controversy that led to the three presenters ending their association with the BBC’s Top Gear but the format for the live performances, billed as ‘Back on the Road’ is exactly the same.

Mark said: “It was great news when we were told that the shows were going ahead. Having worked at eight previous Top Gear live events we are really looking forward to getting stuck in and getting these cars into perfect condition.

“Jeremy Clarkson, James May and Richard Hammond are very professional and are there to put on a great spectacle. They are very thorough about how everything looks, so there is plenty of pressure on us to make sure the cars look their best.

“Excitement has been growing ahead of this weekend. The fans really want to see the show and everybody I have spoken to are relieved that it is going ahead. We have spoken to people who are coming from Dublin to enjoy the action.”

Mark and his colleagues had been preparing for a Top Gear Live Show in Stavanger in Norway back in March when news broke that Jeremy Clarkson’s contract with Top Gear would not be renewed.

He was therefore relieved and delighted when he heard that the decision was made to continue the tour with a new name.

“As a small Northern Ireland company, we are very proud to be associated with such a globally successful and prestigious event. It is a great buzz and the backstage people really make us feel welcome and appreciate our attention to detail,” he added.

Total Perfection will be travelling ‘Back on the Road’ with Clarkson, Hammond and May to Sheffield and Stavanger in June and London in November and are awaiting confirmation about their possible involvement in the South Africa and Australia shows.

The company was born when Mark began a car-washing business 12 years ago to help fund his studies at University of Ulster Jordanstown. The valeting side was added and the company went full-time eight years ago.

The company, which recently completed work at the Royal Ulster Agricultural Show, has a specialist workshpp and mobile unit that tours the length and breadth of Northern Ireland making sure vehicles are in perfect condition. Staff have full training in using top products and techniques that have made Total Perfection the top car detailing company in Northern Ireland.

Mark employs a team of four people and the service is fully mobile: “Our vans are set up specifically to provide the service at our customers’ premises. They contain all the equipment and products we need to provide the best possible finish to their vehicles.”
