The best in innovation, creativity, entrepreneurial spirit and customer care was celebrated as companies took to the stage for the Newtownabbey Business Awards 2010.

The 13 awards, which recognise excellence in every category from manufacturing to tourism and hospitality, were announced at a glittering black tie gala in the stunning new Theatre at the Mill in Mossley.

The Mayor of Newtownabbey, Alderman Paula Bradley, who attended the gala, said:  “These awards show the incredible array of business talent that exists in this borough. We know there are going to be tough times ahead but the sheer industry, imagination and know-how of businesses in Newtownabbey will ensure a healthy future for the people of this borough.”

The awards were organised by Newtownabbey Borough Council with support from Full Circle Management Solutions and Pierce Communications. They were open to every type of business in Newtownabbey.

Simon Devlin of Full Circle Management Solutions said: “The sheer cross section of applicants for the business awards highlights the breadth of businesses in Newtownabbey – from major non indigenous companies to much smaller locally grown businesses employing less than 5 people. We were particularly impressed with the positive outlook of the applicants – whilst the economic climate in Northern Ireland remains particularly challenging for SMEs, what all of the winners shared was a “can do” attitude and a preparedness to really make things happen”.

Martin Blaney of Pierce Communications said they were happy to support the awards.

“We appreciate the amount of hard work that businesses in Newtownabbey do on a daily basis. We also appreciate how proactive the council is in supporting these local businesses. We felt it was appropriate that we supported the Business Awards event in order to acknowledge everyone’s efforts,” he added.
